Orifice Meter is a device that is inexpensive and efficient to measure the flow of gases, liquids, and steam through pipes. The Orifice Meter uses the principle of differential pressure to give accurate readings with very little maintenance. The Orifice Meter is built to last and hence can be used in any application where there is need for efficient flow measurement.

This sturdy orifice meter has been designed based on the differential pressure method and constricts the velocity of the process fluid using a machined restriction to facilitate accurate volumetric data collection.

This multi-purpose differential pressure offers a remarkable utility base and can be considered one of the most effective orifice flow meters for use with clean liquids, steam, and gas.

With a square-edge concentric orifice plate, this system is capable of handling high flow rates and makes an efficient orifice meter for large-diameter pipelines at relatively lower setup costs.

For easy installation in the field, this orifice flow meter system is available as either the complete carrier ring orifice system or the integral orifice flange assembly system.

Working Principle

Unimpeded Flow through Pipeline

The fluid stream continuously flows through the major pipeline. An orifice meter for large diameter pipelines is firmly mounted on its integral orifice flange assembly to create a complete seal around the raw stream flow.

Restriction and Velocity Rise

The stream continues its flow to experience a restriction in the form of a square edge concentric orifice plate. The medium experiences a rise in velocity as it squeezes itself through the central passage and its sharp edges.

Pressure Drop in Fluid Stream

In accordance with Bernoulli’s principle, there is an instant pressure drop behind the orifice plate because of a sharp rise in the fluid velocity.

Mechanical Pressure Tapping

There exists a unique carrier ring orifice assembly to measure the pressure difference at specific locations before and after the restriction. For small installations, the orifice flow meter for clean liquids helps guide the pressure drop through connection ports.
