float and board level indicator

Float and Board Level Indicator

A Float Board Level Indicator is a simple and easy way to measure the level of liquids in the atmosphere tank. It operates on the mechanical method where a float and pointer are used to indicate the liquid level without using any form of energy source. The Float Board Level Indicator is suitable for use in storing liquids like water and molasses.

Overview

This durable float and board type level indicator is used for constant, non-pressurized liquid height measurement in atmospheric tanks of non-hazardous fluids.

By virtue of its external pulley assembly tank level gauge design, the float gauge makes use of a custom designed weighted float attached to a highly visible pointer that runs counter to the scale.

The multi-purpose counterweight float type level indicator is best suited as a fire water tank level indicator, and functions well as a molasses tank level indicator as well as diesel storage tank float and board gauge utility.

For the containment of hazardous vapors or evaporation, this durable float and board type tank level indicator may be designed with vapor seal provision.

Working Principle

Movement of Float

The float is placed within the storage tank and floats on the surface of the liquid. The movement of the float will vary depending upon the rise or fall of the liquid level.

Wire Rope and Pulley Mechanism

The float is linked to an external pointer by using a wire rope and pulley system. This system facilitates the transfer of float movements to the pointer installed externally.

Movement of Counterweight

A counterweight is provided to maintain the correct tension of wire rope, which helps to move the pointer efficiently and precisely with the change in liquid level.

Vapor Seal (Optional)

If the application involves any volatile liquid, the indicator is provided with either a vapor seal or a U-seal system to control vapor loss. This helps in smooth functioning of the mechanism.

Level Indication

The movement of the external pointer over a scale gives the indication of the level of the liquid. This helps the operator to monitor atmospheric storage tanks from a safer place without using any external power source.

Why Float and Board Level Indicator

Suitable for Atmospheric Storage Tanks: Float Board Level Indicator can be ordered in optional vapor seal or U-seal configuration to suit those applications where volatile liquid level has to be measured and minimize the risk of vapor losses.

Reliable Mechanical System: A simple mechanism ensures continuous monitoring of liquid level without any need of electrical source, thus ensuring reliability for industrial purpose.

Durable Construction: Constructed using SS316 material and corrosion resistant wire ropes, this indicator can be used for measuring level of water, chemicals, oils and other compatible fluids.

Easy Distance Measurement: A large dial with a pointer ensures clear visualization of liquid level, thus it can be used in fire water tanks, chemical storage tanks, atmospheric storage tanks etc.
