magnetic level gauge

Magnetic Level Gauge

Our strong magnetic level gauge is an absolutely safe and totally leak-free device for measuring the level of any hazardous fluids that are under pressure. Developed so that no risk of glass breaking occurs, our highly reliable side-mounted magnetic level indicator has highly visible bi-color rollers which make it easy to monitor the readings visually. It can be easily integrated into any automated production line to work as a magnetic float level indicator with a transmitter.

Overview

In the Magnetic Level Gauge, the continuous measurement of the level of the liquid is done using the help of a magnetic float and an external indicator chamber.

In the side-mounted versions, there is an indicator that operates bi-color indicator rollers in such a way that the level of liquid is indicated clearly without the need of any glass viewing chamber.

The top-mounted versions are made available for underground tanks, sumps, and other storage tanks when side mounting is not possible.

With the availability of the 4-20mA transmitters or the level switch or alarms, it becomes very easy to integrate the gauge with the PLC or DCS systems.

Working Principle

Balancing of Liquid Levels

The Magnetic Level Gauge is connected to the process vessel via the bypass chamber. As the liquid level in the vessel changes, the liquid level in the bypass chamber also rises and drops to the same level.

Movement of Magnetic Float

The magnetic float moves with the liquid level in the sealed chamber. In case of corrosive processes, the gauge may be provided with the appropriate materials or PTFE lining based on the process requirement.

Indication of Liquid Level

The magnetic flux generated by the float actuates the rollers/follower indicator outside the chamber through the magnetic linkage without touching the process fluid, thus indicating the level of the liquid.

Transmitter Connection (Optional)

In case of remote indication, the magnetic level gauge can also be fitted with  a 4-20 mA transmitter that converts the float position in electrical form for use with PLC/DCS/SCADA.

Alarms and Control (Optional)

The magnetic level switch may be provided in the chamber for providing the alarm signals and control of the process equipment such as pumps, valves etc. at the pre-set liquid levels.

Why Magnetic Level Gauge

Measurement Method with Sealed Design: The Magnetic Level Gauge incorporates a sealed bypass channel which ensures separation between the process media and the indicator on the outside, allowing for its use in cases of hazardous or corrosive process fluids.

Automation of Processes Possible: An additional 4–20 mA transmitter is provided for remote level reading purposes, ensuring easy incorporation into PLC, DCS, or SCADA control systems.

Designed for Corrosive Environments: There are versions of the Magnetic Level Gauge with chambers made of PTFE that are designed for operation with acids and other highly corrosive media.

Wide Range of Installations Available: The gauge is supplied both in side mounting and in top-mounting versions.
