Acrylic Body Rotameter
Acrylic Body Rotameter is an economic flow measuring instrument which provides an accurate indication of flow rate measurement of liquids or gases in vertical lines. The instrument consists of a clear acrylic body and can be easily used for visual observation of the float position. It is applicable for low flow measurement and its application includes process analyzer sample flow monitoring.
Overview
The Acrylic Body Rotameter is a variable area flow meter, which allows direct viewing of the liquid or gas flow rate measurement in low-pressure conditions.
This meter consists of a clear acrylic body having a tapered opening through which the position of the float in the instrument can be seen for determining flow.
Being a reliable low flow meter, it finds applications in the process analyzer sample flow rate monitoring and gas purge control.
The plastic rotameter can be employed in different industries for chemical dosing and water treatments.

Working Principle
Vertical Fluid Entry
The Acrylic Body Rotameter is mounted vertically in such a manner that the process fluid enters from below the instrument and moves upwards through the tapered flow path.
Float Movement
As the liquid or gas moves upward, it exerts upward force on the internal float. The float moves up against the effect of gravity and remains at the point where the force of the flow and float weight get balanced.
Measurement by Varying Flow Area
Float moves within the tapered tube whose cross-sectional area increases as it moves up in the tube. The float position determines the flow rate through the increased area.
Direct Visual Reading
The clear acrylic body permits direct observation of the float position, which is measured by the scale present on the body of the rotameter. No additional power source is required for measurement.
